Animoca Brands has partnered with Play Magnus Group to bring chess to the metaverse.

After Netflix’s Queen’s Gambit series, which quickly became popular, chess became more popular than ever before. Now chess is coming to the metaverse in partnership with Play Magnus Group. PMG is a well-known company in the chess industry, home to millions of chess players and students. The partnership with Animoca Brands brings the opportunity to bring in an even more significant player base and monetize in new ways.

Animoca subsidiary Lympo, which is part of the partnership, will participate in PMG’s dive into the blockchain. Specifically, Lympo will create a unique NFT collection for PMG’s upcoming Champions Chess Tour game.

PMG will also bring the Champions Chess Tour game to another Animoca subsidiary, The Sandbox, as part of this collaboration.

Lympo will lead the development and launch of a Champions Chess Tour NFT collection over the next five years. Lympo will also create specially designed and animated NFT collections depicting top chess players such as World Champion Magnus Carlsen, Anish Giri and Hans Niemann.
