CD Projekt Red has announced that the only expansion to its widely popular game, Cyberpunk 2077, will be a paid one. Phantom Liberty was revealed back in April and confirmed in early September this year.

Global PR Director of CD Projekt Red, Radek Grabowski, shared the information in a comment he made to GamesRadar, stating, “For the expansion’s pricing – we have not revealed exact details yet, but it will be a paid one.”

The expansion has been described as a “spy-thriller” with lots of content, including new characters added to the existing ones. An all-new district in Night City will also complement Phantom Liberty. It’s not a big surprise that CD Projekt Red is planning to launch it as a paid product when gamers have so much content to go through.

The game’s Director, Gabriel Amatengelo, had made a prior statement about the expansion, saying, “We’re having a lot of fun with [the expansion]. It’s a new style of plot and a new cast of characters on a district in Night City where it primarily takes place.”

The news might relieve some of the fans that own a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One as well, as CD Projekt Red had stated that Phantom Liberty will not be launched on older generation consoles a couple of months ago.
