Fortnite is undoubtedly one of the most popular multiplayer games on all gaming platforms, including mobile. It’s now a culture that everyone knows even if they are not gamers. Today we knew that the mobile version of the battle royal reached a new milestone. According to the insights and analytics company Sensor Tower, Fortnite Mobile revenue has crossed $1 billion in lifetime player spending. This means that Fortnite Mobile crossed $1 billion in revenue in two years only on the App Store and Google Play.
The ongoing outbreak helped Fortnite Mobile to reach this milestone
Based on Sensor Tower’s report, the game was able to pass the $1 billion mark due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown. Other reports also reported higher revenue and more gaming usage because of the same reason. Other factors are releasing Fortnite Mobile on Google Play last month plus the recent in-game concert that featured Travis Scott. All the said reasons helped Epic’s biggest hit to generate $44.3 million in April from users. This number is 90 percent up from March and 25.3 percent year-over-year. It is also the game’s best performance since February 2019.
Furthermore, the majority of the revenue came from the United States which accounted for $632.2 million, or about 63 percent of total spending. Great Britain ranked number two with $38.2 million or 3.8 percent of the total. Switzerland closes the top three with $36.3 million, or 3.6 percent. When it comes to platforms, the App Store accounted for most of the revenue with the game’s players spending more than $1 billion on iOS. It’s worth noting that Fortnite Mobile launched recently on Google Play therefore the generated revenue is $937,000 so far.
Fortnite is most popular in the U.S
Fortnite Mobile has been downloaded more than 129 million times on Android and iOS. The United States once again took first place with 51 million unique installs. Great Britain follows with 8 million downloads while France came in number three with 5.7 million installs. The average revenue per download for Fortnite currently stands at approximately $7.70.
