EA’s FIFA 23 topped the charts in total sales (digital and physical), followed by 2K Games’ NBA 2K23 and Nintendo’s Splatoon 3. FIFA 23 surpassed its predecessor by performing 6% better in purchases. NBA 2K23 also got a boost in sales in Europe by 10.5% compared to NBA 2K22.

Digital downloads were down by 13.8% year-over-year, while physical sales saw a 3.7% decline. Although console sales were down year-over-year, the numbers increased by 29% compared to last month.

While Xbox almost doubled its sales, PlayStation saw an increase of 28% compared to August. Nintendo Switch was ranked as the top seller within the report’s covered regions, as the numbers rose by 11% compared to last month.

Point cards and wallets were up 8.5% in comparison to August but endured a year-over-year decline of 6.1%. Gaming accessories were sold 22% more over August.

The report shares that Germany and UK data were excluded. The top three games in the UK were FIFA 23, GTA 5, and NBA 2K23. Splatoon 3 followed the trio, as console sales in the UK rose by 41%. The report states that since Nintendo keeps digital download counts confidential, Splatoon could rank higher in the charts.

The news came from GamesIndustry. The report states that physical game, console, and gaming accessory sales cover all purchases but only in certain European countries. Digital sales cover participating companies (most big names) and almost all European countries.
