2020 is the year of game subscription services. On Consoles and PC, there’s Xbox Game Pass which has millions of users. On iOS, there’s Apple Arcade and on Android, there’s Google Play Pass. It launched last year on the 23rd of September in the United States only. However, Google announced that this is changing as the service is expanding to other countries. The company also revealed some of the new games that are joining the library and a new yearly subscription.
Google Play Pass is now available in ten new countries
In a recent announcement, Google announced that its Play Pass is coming to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, and the United Kingdom this week. The free one month trial is also expanding to the new countries. You can get it by simply opening the Play Store app, tapping the menu at the top left, and looking for “Play Pass”. In the United States, players can now subscribe to a new yearly subscription for $29.29 per year. If you want to upgrade, just open the Play Store and go to the Play Pass tab, and scroll down to find “Upgrade to a yearly subscription”.
By the time of writing, Google added more than 150 new titles to the service. Subscribers can now enjoy new games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Golf Peaks, and award-winning indies like Teslagrad, Forgotten Anne, and Sally’s Law. All games in Google Play Pass are ad-free and without in-app purchases. Expect to see more titles from Sesame Workshop, Learny Land, and more.
More games are coming
In the same blog post, Google said that a “series of new titles will premiere on Play Pass this year when they launch”. With expanding the service to new countries, expect to see a rise in subscribers count. Are you planning to join the service? Tell us!
