Frost Giant Studios will develop a new RTS.

Korea-based Kakao Games announced that it would invest $ 20 million in American independent game developer studio Frost Giant. Frost Giant Studios, founded by veteran industry names Tim Morten and Tim Campbell in 2020, is currently developing the first real-time strategy (RTS) game. The details of the game are expected to be announced later this year.

Tim Morten and Tim Campbell have played vital roles in some of the most popular PC games of all time. There are famous games such as StarCraft II in Tim Morten’s portfolio and WarCraft III in Tim Campbell’s portfolio. Two experienced names took charge of senior titles in the projects they took part in before.

On the subject, Kyehyun Cho, CEO of Kakao Games, said:

“The team at Frost Giant Studio has already proven they have strong development capabilities, creating beloved RTS hits in the global market in the past. We look forward to seeing them present their first game as a studio, and will actively work together to showcase good work through our close partnership.”

Tim Morten, CEO of Frost Giant Studios, adds:

“Kakao Games is a Publisher recognized in both the Korean and global markets; we are very happy to be working together. With their support, we’ll do our best to present a next-gen RTS game that can be enjoyed by players worldwide.”

Alongside this investment, Kakao Games continues to expand its product line with promising and talented domestic (Korean) and international developer studios, including Ocean Drive Studio, Second Dive, NINEARK, Reality MagiQ, and more.

The names in the Frost Giant Studios team had served in previous successful RTS games. For this reason, expectations are high for the studio’s first RTS game of its own. After the investment made by Kakao Games, the new team is expected to show a good performance.
