Keywords Studios expands in Australia with two new studios

Keywords Studios has acquired 10 video game studios in several parts of the world in the last three years.

Ireland-based company Keywords Studios has increased its reach in Australia with two brand new studios based in Brisbane and Adelaide. The technical and creative service provider has three more studios in the region.

Keywords Studios has been very active in the Australian gaming space. In 2021, Keywords acquired Forgotten Empires, the Age of Empires series developer. Later in the year, it received 85% of Melbourne-based Tantalus Media and game development studio Wicked Witch. In August 2022, Mighty Games was acquired by Keywords for an undisclosed fee.

Keywords Studios has acquired 10 video game studios in several parts of the world in the last three years.

Two new studios will be named Tantalus North in Brisbane, and Tantalus South in Adelaide. Both studios will focus solely on game development. “Keywords Studios’ presence in Australia has grown rapidly to five studios across three states, employing over 170 people.” said the Head of Studios & Integration Tom Davies. The company announced its plan to hire 30 more people by the end of 2022.

The Australian game industry had seen rapid growth in 2021, and the Australian government has plans to grant more funding to the industry.
