Kwalee and Buildbox Are Launching Hyper-Casual Game Jam

Kwalee

The UK-based game developer and publisher Kwalee unite with the no-code development platform Buildbox to host a game jam. It will focus on what Kwalee is good at, which is hyper casual games. The collaboration marks the fifth game jam hosted by Buildbox, and the very first focusing on this genre. Furthermore, registrations are open from today until the 10th of May.

Best Game Could Get a Publishing Deal with Kwalee

Kwalee experts will choose the winner of the game jam that might be awarded with a potential publishing deal. That’s not all though, they will get testing of their game on the app store with UA spend. One-to-one game development and publishing workshop, shopping vouchers, swag bags and more are on the table too. Simon Prytherch, Head of Publishing at Kwalee said in a press release the following:

The Buildbox platform goes hand in hand with hypercasual. It really was a no-brainer to collaborate on a game jam all about making the most of the genre. From our internal development team, to the developers we’re already working with from a publishing standpoint. There’s a lot of love for hypercasual, because it’s all about rapid prototyping and the fun of finding that one killer game mechanic. Hypercasual is the sharp end of creativity, and we can’t wait to review the games that get submitted, and hopefully take some of the games further!

Buildbox Founder Trey Smith added: “Buildbox and hyper casual gaming have quite the long history. In fact, the first game ever built with a prototype version of Buildbox, was Phases, a hyper casual game! One of my favourite hyper casual publishers was always Kwalee. They are smart, put the developer first – and to be honest – are just really awesome people. I was extremely excited to hear we would be partnering with them on a game jam, and can’t wait to see what you all come up with. I bet it will be phenomenal. Keep it up boxers, can’t wait to see what you do next”.
