Rovio has released its first financial report for 2022. The continued growth of the Angry Birds franchise has significantly increased the company’s revenues and active users.
According to the report published by Rovio, in the financial period ending on March 31, the company’s revenues increased by 26% year on year to €85 million. The Finland-based company reported that adjusted earnings before taxes, depreciation, and amortization rose 11%, to €13.6 million. Adjusted operating profit (AOP) decreased by 1% yearly to €10 million.
In terms of game revenues alone, Rovio has seen a rise of 26.8% year on year to €82.3 million. Angry Birds 2, one of the company’s best-ever hits, has a share of €30.3 million in the reported revenue.
Another Angry Birds game that contributed significantly to the revenues was Angry Birds Journey, released back in January 2022. Angry Birds Journey has generated a revenue of €10.1 million since its launch, making it the company’s third most revenue-generating title.
Many other Angry Birds games also positively impacted Rovio’s revenues. In addition, the company’s daily active users increased from 6.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2021 to 7.3 million in the first quarter of 2022. Rovio also reported that Ruby Games, which it acquired in August 2021, generated €6.1 million in revenue in the first financial quarter.
