Highest-grossing mobile games of September 2022 in Southeast Asia

Sensor Tower has shared the highest-grossing mobile games of September 2022 for the Southeast Asia region. Moonton’s Mobile Legends: Bang Bang topped both the Android and iOS revenue charts, according to the data.

The game amassed approximately $9 million in player spending last month, which is a 6.9% increase compared to September 2021. The region’s top three countries were Malaysia, Indonesia, and Philippines, which generated 37.9%, 29.1%, and 17.2% of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s revenue, respectively.

Garena Free Fire followed the title closely behind with over $8.1 million in revenue. Free Fire managed to secure the second spot in both the overall and Android charts but couldn’t find a place in the top 10 for iOS. Thailand and Indonesia were the leaders for the title, generating 39.3% and 28.9% of the revenue, respectively. The game was also ranked second in Sensor Tower’s top 10 mobile game download counts in Southeast Asia.

Although Tencent’s Honor of Kings topped the charts in overall worldwide revenue in August 2022, the game could only secure third place in the overall chart in Southeast Asia. Tencent’s title was placed in the fifth spot for Play Store revenue but wasn’t in the top 10 for App Store.

Roblox managed to secure fourth place in both App Store and Play Store. Higgs Games’ Higgs Domino Island landed on the fifth spot overall and ranked third for Android. Per Sensor Tower data, there were no new entries for the revenue or the download list in Southeast Asia within September 2022.

The company stated that Android data was gathered exclusively from Google Play. The list excluded app revenue from third-party Android stores in China or other regions. The data came from Sensor Tower’s Store Intelligence platform, which harbors partnerships with companies such as Geico, Target, Nestlé, Twitter, and HBO.
