However, the company presented a revenue and net bookings loss, as both declined by 3% compared to last year. Rainbow Six Siege was praised as the bookings went up 18% year-over-year thanks to the current player base.

Assassin’s Creed franchise was also mentioned as a strong performer. Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla brought a record number of active players in Q2, with Valhalla crossing the 20 million milestone in all-time unique player count.

Ubisoft’s CFO Frédérick Duguet had these comments in the press release:

“On the back of this stronger-than-expected back-catalog performance and solid growth prospects in H2, we are confident in our capacity to reach our 400 M€ non-IFRS operating income target for the year. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, our key new release of the semester, is a major critical hit.”

“We will build its momentum through the Holiday season with an ambitious marketing plan and material support from Nintendo. On top of this and other upcoming releases and content updates, a key contributor to this semester will be our mobile licensing partnership.”

The company also indicated its targets for the second half. Ubisoft states that it plans to build its strategy around the release of Mario+Rabbids: Sparks of Hope (already released), Just Dance 2023, Skull and Bones, a new expansion for Far Cry 6, and additional content for live games, including Rainbow Six Siege.

The France-based gaming giant has had busy days lately. Last month, Skull and Bones was delayed for the fifth time and was postponed until March 9, 2023. In October, Ubisoft announced the establishment of Global Creative Office to boost the overall quality of all Ubisoft games. You can access the full report here.
