Today, Unity announced that Unity Connect, their community tool will shut down.
They launched Unity Connect almost four years ago to bring together users with different levels of experience. Stating that the product has a loyal following, Unity states in its article that over the years usage has declined.
For this reason, it was decided to shut down Unity Connect on February 4, 2021. The firm stated that they are proud of the community gathered around Connect and that the sharing and discovery made inspire them. For this reason, the firm aimed to make the shutdown process as smooth as possible for the users.
If you are an active user on the platform, it is possible to access the most popular Connect features in alternative ways. You can also download any part of your profile before it is deleted on February 4, 2021.
Here are some Connect features that you can access via alternatives:
- Jobs: Unity is currently preparing for jobs and freelance return to the Unity Forum. Since you cannot move your profile on Connect, you need to create a new profile in Unity Forum.
- Groups: Select Groups will move to Unity Learn soon.
- WebGL Games: All WebGL content will be available on the Play platform. If you have shared your game URL in the past, it will be moved automatically.
- Live Help: Live Help will continue to work at its address.
