NetEase, one of the important names in the game industry, is establishing a studio together with Yakuza’s producer and experienced industry person Toshihiro Nagoshi. The new studio’s name, which will be based in Tokyo, will be Nagoshi Studio.
Toshihiro Nagoshi will serve as CEO and Representative Director of the Tokyo-based studio, which will be established in partnership with NetEase. The studio will consist of a founding team of 8 people. All members of the team are from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. This studio was part of Sega and developed Yakuza games.
NetEase says the new studio will focus on developing new console games that will be released globally. Toshihiro Nagoshi, who previously served at Sega, also left his position in February 2021 and joined NetEase. With the effect of other separations after this breakup, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio restructured its board of directors.
The new studio has been exciting news for fans of the Yakuza series. Console titles coming out of the new studio are eagerly awaited. The power of NetEase and the experience of the new studio team raise expectations.
